Today in class, we learned about some "musical" tools of poetry - alliteration, rhyme, repetition, rhythm, and onomatopoeia. After studying several poems, we decided to create a poem of our own using some of theses musical tools. Amy came up with the idea to write a poem about a sunset, and here's what we wrote:
Sunset
Sneaking beneath the earth
Peeking out of the pink clouds
Soothing sun sits lightly in the horizon
Orange, blue, and pink
Swirls and twirls in the sky
Lower and Lower
Sneaking beneath the earth
Can you identify some of the tools we used? Give us some feedback, let us know what you think!

What fun! I found lots of tools:
alliteration (peeking and pink, soothing sun),
rhyme (swirls and twirls)
repetition (first and last lines)
Thanks for your wonderful blog.
Thanks for responding! This is what makes blogging so fun - interacting with the blog's readers. We're glad you enjoyed our poem - it was fun to write.
I see alliteration: "peeking out of the pink..." and "soothing sun sits..."
I also see assonance: "swirls and twirls..." as well as "sneaking beneath..."
Nice imagery! Well done! :)
