Water Cycle Dance

After our hands-on experiment with the water cycle, we decided to deepen our understanding by using dance. Small groups of students were asked to create a dance highlighting the parts of the water cycle: evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and run-off. Students were also asked to utilize the elements of dance effectively -body, energy, space, time, transitions, and levels. After each group performed, our audience members gave feedback. I was so impressed with how our students recognized not only science content, but how they also connected the elements of dance to the water cycle. Here are some pictures from our performance.

Naomi,
That's good thinking. I need to have my video camera handy for times like that! Next time, I'll definitely try to have a video camera ready.

I really liked coming up with the movments for the dance! I just practiced with a little more space... when ever I touch that one spot near my knee I remember.

I'm glad the dance has sticked with you. You're sure to understand and remember the water cycle for a long time (maybe even when you're my age!).
